空気を保持する

見つけた木、糸（広島の森）、2025年

この繊細な組み合わせは、弓を使った楽器の輪郭を思い起こさせますが、音は現れません。

広島近郊の森に集められた2本の枝が、張られた糸で結ばれています。木製の型の 1 つはほぼ 8 の字にねじれ、まるで結び目の途中で引っかかったかのように輪を作ります。

この作品は線、重力、空気を使ってゆらめいています。空中に浮いているように見えるほど軽いので、立っているというよりは空中に浮かんでいます。

その脆弱性にもかかわらず、構造は保持されており、張力が形状を維持しています。糸は目に見えない力をたどり、動作のないジェスチャー、共鳴のない振動を示唆します。

シリーズの他の作品と同様に、すべての素材が見つかり、変更はされず、再組み立てされただけです。

この彫刻は記念碑的なものに抵抗し、代わりに同調の生態系を提案しています。それは、どうすれば記憶を囲い込まずに浮遊状態に保持できるのか、という問いです。

その中間、つまり出来事ではなく、
その残像にどうやって生きていくのか？

To Hold the Air

Found wood, thread (Hiroshima forest), 2025

This delicate assemblage evokes the outline of a bowed instrument — yet no sound emerges. Two branches, gathered in the forest near Hiroshima, are joined by tensioned threads. One of the wooden forms twists into a near figure-eight, looping in on itself as if caught mid-knot.

The piece plays with line, gravity, and air. Light enough to seem airborne, it hovers rather than stands. Despite its fragility, the structure holds: tension sustains form. The threads trace invisible forces, suggesting gesture without action, vibration without resonance.

As with other works in the series, all materials are found — not altered, only reassembled. The sculpture resists monumentality, proposing instead an ecology of attunement. It asks: how does one hold memory in suspension, without enclosing it? How to inhabit the in-between — not the event, but its afterimage?
